Web of Venom is the fifty-third episode of Marvel's Spider-Man and the first episode of season 3 Maximum Venom.

When Spider-Man and Max Modell experiment on a sample of Venom symbiote, it escapes and unleashes a weapon of unknown purpose.[1]
Plot
"Web of Venom – Part 1"
When a new student at Horizon High accidentally unleashes a technology-eating monstrosity called the Technovore, Spider-Man has to take an enormous risk by using a new version of the dangerous V-252 symbiote to defeat the unstoppable machine![2]
"Web of Venom – Part 2"
Spider-Man and Max Modell have to find a way to stop Venom (who has been unwittingly unleashed by Dr. Conners) from recovering a weapon that would allow him to destroy our planet![3]

- Anya, Gwen, and Miles attend a week-long college tour, which Peter forgets to sign up for.
- Aunt May mentions that Mary Jane has moved next door.
- Max Modell reveals that he knows Peter is Spider-Man.
- Max also mentions that the events of Goblin War: Part Four happened two weeks before this episode.
- This slightly contradicts what Marvel.com's article has said about Peter being in his junior year at Horizon High, though it is possible with the format of the specials that he'll eventually be in his junior year at some point this season.
- At the end of the episode, Max is put under investigation because of Connor's reporting of him experimenting on the Venom symbiote. This results in Connor's gaining control of everything in Max's lab, which may also include Horizon.
- This is the first time Doctor Connors has ever been infected with a symbiote.
- The animation in this season is noticeably smoother than the previous ones.
- Grady and Doctor Connors received new character designs.
- Grady's new design makes him look older than his last appearance in School of Hard Knocks.
- Doctor Connor is now sporting a metallic arm to replace his missing one from season one.
- Sandman, Electro, Venom, and Vulture appear as holograms at the beginning of the episode. Ironically each of them, along with Connors, were each last few villains in a Spider-Man film before Spider-Man Far from Home.
- Venom is the only villain who physically appears in the episode.
- The synthetic-symbiote suit is similar to the black suit Spider-Man receives in the Spider-Man: Web of Shadows video game, for it was made from a sample of Venom and is not living.
- The perspective of when Venom (as Connors) turns into his classic form while confronting Spider-Man on the bridge is similar to the opening seen in Web of Shadows.
- It also a reference to Spider-Man's first battle with Connors as the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man film.
- The seed Venom uses at near the end of the episode has the same shape as a World Pod from the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series.
