"Spider-Monsters" are the forms the citizens of New York underwent after the explosion at Midtown High caused the Jackal's spider formula to go airborne as a gas through the city. The cure to the formula was from the DNA of Spider-Man, the first successful spider-soldier.

Trivia[]
- Anya was able to communicate with Gwen while she was a Spider-Monster due to the close bond they share.
- Harry attempted the same tactic with his father, but it failed to work for him.
- While not a direct reference due to being based on the forms from the Spider-Island comic book storyline, the Spider-Monsters are similar to Spider-Man's Man-Spider transformation from the Marvel Comics.
- Norman's assumed role as the Spider-King is a reference to there having been a Spider-Queen in the comic book version of Spider-Island.
- The Spider-King in the comic book was actually Captain America due to the Spider-Queen being an adversary of his and Spider-Man's.
- In The Day Without Spider-Man Gwen's dormant spider-powers were reawakened thanks to the power of the blood gem. This theoretically means that anyone Tinkerer uses the device on could have regained their Spider-Powers.
