"Now he must take it to the max!."
-Narrator, Maximum Venom, Web of Venom, Tv Spot
In the third season of Marvel's Spider-Man, now subtitled: Maximum Venom, Venom is planning to call in a symbiote invasion from his homeworld to take over the Earth. With a threat this big it will take the combined might of not only Spider-Man and his friends, but the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy as well. This will be the biggest event in Marvel Animation history; following a story arc that fans will remember in Guardians of the Galaxy but is not required to know for this season.[1]
Maximum Venom will premiere on April 19, 2020.[2]

Trivia
- The synopsis of the season from Marvel.com spoiled Peter re-enrolling into Horizon at the end of Season 2.
- The detail went unnoticed by fans due to Maximum Venom being announced in the middle of season two's hiatus.
- Despite the Marvel.com article claiming this is Peter and friends' junior year at Horizon High Max Modell states that it has only been two weeks since Spider-Man defeat Adrian Toomes.[4]
- The subtitle of the season is a reference to the comic book storyline Maximum Carnage, while the plot of the season appears to be based on three prominent Venom storylines: Planet of the Symbiotes, Venomized, and Donny Cates' Venom.
- Unlike previous seasons, there was no trailer highlighting key events for the entirety of Maximum Venom.
- This is because the episodes of Maximum Venom will air a month after the previous one instead of on a weekly basis.
- Maximum Venom is also similar to the Spider-Man video game, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, in many aspects.
- Spider-Man's new symbiote suit is formed from a piece of the venom symbiote and appears to lack its own consciousness.
- Many heroes become infected by symbiotes due to New York being overrun by the creatures.
- A symbiote invasion occurs, although in Web of Shadows it was caused by Venom replicating and infecting ordinary citizens. In Maximum Venom, Venom summons his fellow symbiotes from their home planet.
- The Venom symbiote is the main antagonist while Eddie Brock has nothing to do with the symbiote invasion.
- Mary Jane aids Spider-Man during his battle with the symbiotes.
- The character designs will be changed in Maximum Venom to match promotional artist Patrick Brown's artwork.[5]
- This was partially true, for characters like Spider-Girl and Spider-Man closely resemble Patrick Brown's design in Maximum Venom, but not all of his venomized form designs were used in the animation outside of the Venom Files videos.
- Cort Lane, a producer from Marvel Animation, mentions that the symbiote related events from the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series are related to what happens in Maximum Venom, but are not required to watch to understand the storyline.
- Peter knowing who Groot is a reference to the episodes Back in the New York Groove and Drive My Carnage from Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!
- The change in format from a full season to six hour-long episodes, according to Kevin Burke and Chris Doc Wyatt, is because they had stories they wanted to tell that wouldn't be possible in a half-hour episode.
- The new half-hour format is similar and the airing schedule is similar to the Marvel Rising specials.
- The animation style for Maximum Venom is also similar to Marvel Rising. The animation is smoother than previous seasons and the use of shading is more occurrent than the previous seasons.
- Despite being labeled as a venomized form in the teaser trailer, some toylines label Spider-Man's new symbiote form as a new Symbiote Spider-Man.
- At some point after uploading the teaser trailer for Maximum Venom, Marvel HQ deleted the video. Most likely due to it airing in the year 2020, and not to take away too much attention from the remainder of season 2.
- The teaser trailer is still view-able in Marvel HQ's coverage of the Marvel Animation panel from D23.
- A Venom themed website was given exclusive previews of a few Venomized heroes, albeit with the websites watermark.[6]
- Patrick Brown, the artist who has made promotional artwork for the show, was uploading artwork of the Venomized heroes to his instagram account, but took them down after posting artwork of venomized Ghost-Spider.[7]
- The artwork he got around to sharing were Venomized: Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Groot, Spider-Man, and Ghost-Spider.
- Full artwork of all the Venomized heroes is available to view in the Marvel Topps Trading Card Game app.
- Close to the series premiere Patrick Brown was allowed by Marvel to upload his designs and concept art he did for the venomized heroes.
- A recap video posted by Marvel HQ confirms that would confirm that the Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Series and Marvel's Spider-Man take place in the same universe.[8]
- This season will be the last project produced by Marvel Animation after Marvel Studios was reported to handle all of Marvel Televisions productions in the future.
- Mary Jane Watson will make her real debut this season, voiced by Felicia Day.[9]
- The Scream, Scorn, and Mania symbiotes will make their debuts, the latter two for the first time in animation.[10]
- Scream, Scorn, and Mania appear in the episode Maximum Venom.
- Despite having been confirmed to work on this season both Donny Cates and Patrick Brown do not have their names credited in any of the season 3 episodes.
- Patrick Brown would be credited in the final episode Maximum Venon.''
- Patrick Brown's designs for the venomized heroes are used in the Venom Files videos, but some of his designs were tweaked or not used for season 3's animation. Spy-D and Iron Man being two examples.
- Black Widow, The Hulk (Bruce Banner) and Ms. Marvel are the only three Avengers who have not been featured in Maximum Venom despite them being the main Avengers featured in the show alongside Iron Man. Bruce Banner's Hulk was featured in multiple merchandise while Ms. Marvel has only been featured in the Venom Burst toyline.
- Black Widow and Hulk (Bruce Banner) appear in the last episode Maximum Venom alongside their fellow Avengers and Spider-Man fighting against M.O.D.O.K..
- Amazing Friends and Spider-Man Unmasked are the only episodes that have nothing to do with symbiotes. Symbiotes appear at the end of the Amazing Friends, but the overall episode was focused on Groot.
- While Maximum Venom concluded the series on a happy ending for Peter and his friends with the W.E.B, many fans believe that there should be another season to bring resolution to Doctor Connor's lizard transformation and Miles' father being stuck as Swarm.
- Spider-Man, Venom, Ghost-Spider, Miles, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Groot were the characters with the most merchandise for this season.
- Despite being a main character, Spider-Girl only received merchandise in the form a toy from the Venom Burst toyline.
- Despite the series ending in 2020, Marvel continues to release merchandise based on Spider-Man: Maximum Venom.
- In 2022, Patrick Brown designed venomized versions of characters such as Black Widow, Black Panther, and Thanos for new toys.
- The idea behind Maximum Venom came from Kevin Shinick, the former showrunner and supervising producer for season one. He suggested that the symbiotes should be built up slowly and become a major threat later.[11]
- Venom's meteorite in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 for Playstation 5 is used in a way similar to the Symbiote Seed in Maximum Venom. It's possible that Insomniac and Marvel Games took inspiration from the animated series when working on Venom's storyline in the game.
