"You talk about these powers like they're a gift. But they come with a lot of responsibility"

-Peter to Miles, Anya, and Gwen., Ultimate Spider-Man

"Being a superhero isn't just about having superpowers. It's about being the best person you can be."

-Peter Parker to Miles, Anya, Gwen, and Otto Octavius, Goblin War: Part Three

Peter Parker is the main protagonist of Marvel's Spider-Man. He became a student at Horizon High after successfully solving Max Modell's equation during his presentation at Midtown High School. When super-villains attack the city, Peter suits-up and fights crime as the superhero (and masked vigilante) Spider-Man.

During Season 3, Peter made a few changes to his Spider-Man costume. The palms, wrist, and middle arm of the suit are now blue.

For more of Peter Parker's outfits and designs, see Peter Parker/Designs.

Personality

Peter is a nice, geeky, and friendly teenage boy who is loyal to his friends, family, and those he holds dear. While his heroics as Spider-Man have made those refer to him as a flake, Peter will always be there for anyone that needs him.

Upon his uncle's demise, Peter was shown to have become temporarily vengeful towards the robber, but later became remorseful when he realizes how he was responsible for his uncle's fate. This is what led him to become a hero.

When bonded to Venom, he acts cocky, arrogant, and aggressive. He even acts more violently than normal when combating Alister in the vulture suit. Tony Stark even questions whether or not he is heading in a similar territory to Ghost.

History

Relationships

Miles Morales

Kraven's Amazing Hunt (213)

Miles is the first person Peter revealed himself to as Spider-Man.

Miles Morales is one of Peter's closest and most likely first friends at Horizon High. Miles is usually the one to give Peter the benefit of the doubt when others refer to him as a slacker. He was also the first person Peter revealed his identity to and has had Spider-Man's back as his first Spy-D ever since.

Anya Corazon

Osborn Academy (249)

While Anya was harsh on Peter when they first meet, the two have become close friends during their time together at Horizon High.

Anya is one of Peter's closest friends at Horizon High. When they first met she was angry at him for ruining her vibranium reactor and considered him a slacker, but she eventually warms up to him.

Anya's opinion on Spider-Man was different than what she thought of Peter. She appreciated the hero for saving her life twice, and returned the favor once she became Spider-Girl.

In Spider-Man Unmasked, Anya learns that Peter is Spider-Man and is upset that he has kept his identity a secret from her and Gwen despite the group being best friends. However, during thier battle in the Underground Monster League, Peter apologizes for keeping his secret, stating that he only wanted to protect Anya and Gwen. Likewise Anya says that they only wanted to protect Peter too.

Gwen Stacy

Peter and Gwen -MSM 2017- Generations

Peter and Gwen reminding Miles that they're not only friends and a team, but like a family too.

Gwen is one of Peter's closest friends at Horizon High. When the Peter comforted her after finding out that her uncle was the villainous Jackle, she hugged Peter and thanked him for sharing his story about Uncle Ben and the formula on his backpack.

Gwen's opinion of Spider-Man was similar to Anya's opinion of Peter. She believed that Spider-Man was heroics wrong, saying that he shouldn't need to hide his identity if the Avengers don't, and she slyly remarked on how he didn't capture the Jackle. Despite this, she warms up to him after gaining spider-powers and working along side him.

In Spider-Man Unmasked, Gwen learns that Peter is Spider-Man and is upset that he has kept his identity a secret from her and Anya despite the group being best friends. However, during their battle in the Underground Monster League, Peter apologizes for keeping his secret, stating that he only wanted to protect Gwen and Anya. Gwen accepts Peter's apology and she apologizes, along with Anya, for how they reacted.

Harry Osborn

Horizon High Part One Full Episode

Harry is Peter's longest and best friend. Even when obstacles hinder their relationship the two still support each other.

Harry is Peter's best friend and the first friend he has ever made. While irritated by Peter's excuses for being late, he tolerates it due to their friendship. After he found out that Peter was Spider-Man, he was frustrated due to Peter keeping it a secret for so long. Their fight against the Sinister Six rekindled their friendship to the point that even his father could not suede him into killing Spider-Man.

Mary Jane Watson

Season 1 (Retconned) Mary Jane is a former classmate of Peter's at Midtown High. When Peter found out she was the mascot of the Midtown Tigers he cheered for.

Season 3

Spider-Man Unmasked (778)

Unlike Gwen, Anya, and Miles, Mary Jane challenges Peter to approach situations from a non-scientific point of view.

Upon meeting Mary Jane for the first time, and almost crashing into her, Peter was smitten by her appearance and easy-going personality. Even when Peter was acting awkward while trying to hide Groot Mary Jane simply rolled along with it without calling him out on the behavior as Aunt May did and how others would usually.

In Spider-Man Unmasked, Mary Jane helped Peter to realize that he didn't explain why he kept his secret (of being Spider-Man) from Gwen and Anya the way he intended too.

In Maximum Venom, when Peter tells Mary Jane that he needs a date for Horizon High's dance, and jokes that he'll never find a date, she says that she would go with to the dance. When Venom was revealed to have been possessing Max Modell, Mary Jane tried to get Peter to leave Horizon with her, and she ended up surprised by his bravery of wanting to protect the school and his classmates. Before evacuating herself, she gives him a kiss on the cheek for good luck.

Peter and Mary Jane Finishing Their Dance - Marvel Spider-Man Maximum Venom Final Episode

Peter and Mary Jane continuing their dance and looking forward to their future.

Later on, Mary Jane and Peter have the dance that was interrupted at the party. Mary Jane said that despite alien invasion, it was still a nice. Her optimism and reminding that they had a future to look forward to made Peter realize that he wasn't ready to leave his friends and family behind to become an Avenger. Mary Jane was confused on what Peter meant by her being right (about their whole future being ahead of them) and was caught by surprise when Peter gave her a kiss on the cheek, making her blush just as he did when first seeing her in Amazing Friends.

It's possible that Peter and Mary Jane become a couple after the events of Maximum Venom.

Ben Parker

Peter's Uncle Ben is the person responsible for him becoming Spider-Man. Peter was devastated after he was shot, and almost murdered the burglar who killed Uncle Ben if it wasn't for his uncle's teaching. To this day Peter carries the equation Ben wrote on his backpack, "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility."

May Parker

Peter's Aunt May is like a mother to him just as Uncle Ben was like a father. She deeply cares for Peter as her own son, even trying to find a way to pay for Horizon when the omission price was more than she could afford. Likewise, Peter cares for her deeply and didn't want her to pay for the tuition money.

May appeared to be afraid of Spider-Man at first but seems to have warmed up to him between the events of Sandman and Venom Returns.

Max Modell

Max Modell is Peter's headmaster at Horizon and his scientific hero. As Spider-Man, Max holds a lot of respect for the hero for the many times he has come to Horizon's aid. At the end of The Hobgoblin Part Two , Max and other officials at Horizon agreed to put up a statue of Spider-Man, dubbing him their unofficial mascot.

Otto Octavius

Doctor Octavius was one of Peter's teachers at Horizon High. From first impressions and later on, Otto considered Peter one of his underachieving students. After he decided to become a hero, The Octopus, Peter as Spider-Man tried to show him the values of a hero, but Octavius' ego and Norman Osborn got in the way of Spider-Man's teachings. This lead to Octavius becoming one of Spider-Man's greatest enemies, Doctor Octopus. In "A Troubled Mind", Peter finds out that he and Otto had very similar childhoods, with the exception of their guardians' guidance. Peter thought that if he didn't have Ben and May to look out for him, would've he ended up the same way as Otto.

Despite everything Otto had put him through during the Superior Spider-Man saga, Peter gave Otto another chance at redemption and was happy to see that he was committed to reforming. He even came to Otto's aid when the other spiders and Harry did not trust him.

During Otto's sacrifice and the defeat of Adrien Toomes, Peter teared up as Otto faded away and ceased to exist.

Norman Osborn

As Harry's father, Peter respected Norman for opening a school after Harry was kicked out of Horizon. However, after finding out Norman wanted to destroy Horizon High and Spider-Man, Peter knew that Norman Osborn was not the man he thought he was.

Tony Stark

Peter idolizes Tony Stark, who is the famous superhero, Iron Man. As a child, Peter had made a makeshift Iron Man costume for Halloween one year, showing he had been a fan of the armored avenger for a number of years. Peter (as Spider-Man) finally meets Tony Stark, in which it is revealed that Tony doesn't believe him to be a hero, but after Spider-Man helped him defeat Ghost, Stark began to see Peter as an ally and even sees potential in him. After Otto Octavius' actions in Peter's body as The Superior Spider-Man, Peter & Tony's friendship was strained until Peter saved him and the other Avengers from Regent alongside Cloak and Dagger.

Ms. Marvel

When they first met Kamala found Peter to be annoying, and acted frustrated when she was told to work with him, however, she eventually warmed up to him. After they teamed up to save The Avengers, they became friends. it was later revealed that they kept in touch and have hung out a couple of times, but their relationship was strained after Otto Octavius temporarily took over Peter's body. After getting his body back he had told her what happened and they reconciled. It's hinted that Peter may have feelings for her, as when trying to get in touch with her, he asked himself why she makes him feel nervous.

Flash Thompson

Flash use to bully Peter due to him being a nerd and weaker than he is. Sometime before the beginning of the series Flash matured past his bullying ways and became friendlier toward Peter as seen in the episode Sandman, only using "Puny Parker" as a nickname now. He a huge fan of Spiderman, and doesn't know that Peter is Spider-Man.

Spider Physiology

Spider-Man possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, given to him after a bite from one of Raymond Warren's genetically-enhanced spider experiments. The powers Spider-Man received from the spider include superhuman strength, increased agility, and other arachnid-based powers.

According to Peter, spiders can lift 173 times their own body weight; Tony Stark stated that Peter weighs 97 pounds, meaning Peter can lift approximately 16,781 pounds (8.4 tons). This physical strength also extends to his leg muscles allowing him to jump/leap considerable heights and distances without needing a running start.
  • Superhuman Durability: Peter's body while not indestructible; his overall bodily tissues are considerably more durable, particularly in regards to impact or physical trauma. He has withstood beating, falling from great heights, and blows from opponents physically stronger than him without showing signs of long term injury. Though he is not immune to pain.
  • Superhuman Agility: Spider-Man possesses agility allowing him to effortlessly perform acrobatic maneuvers beyond a human level with little difficulty, being able to quickly scale a building without even using his wall-crawling ability, but simply grasping the edges of windows, poles, and ladders. His equilibrium and balance are so acute he can leap and land on any small precipice with a sense of balance he can walk, jump, run and perform acrobatic feats in any orientation (upside down, sideways).
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Peter's reflexes and hand-eye coordination permit him to use his agility and strength to accomplish an amazing feat of acrobatic and martial prowess despite no formal training in fighting or gymnastics
  • Spider-Sense: Peter possesses an extrasensory ability of precognitive reflexive action that warns him of immediate danger through what he feels. Permitting him to act before the danger is in his periphery. This sensation is described as his entire body covered in goosebumps. However, since bonding with the V-252, Peter is incapable of locating Venom.
    • Enhanced Vision: The spider bite also somehow fixed whichever conditions impaired Peter's sight.

Equipment

Web-shooters

Peter's web-shooters are devices that rest on his wrist and allow him to shoot his webs. He designed them to activate by pressing his middle and index fingers on the trigger.

Proto-suit

The Proto-suit is Peter's first costume. He created from Aunt May's sweat clothes and originally used the outfit to make money wrestling and to go after the man who shot Uncle Ben.

Stealth suit

Peter built this suit in the case of Jackal's potential Spider army. At first, Peter didn't adjust the suit to accommodate his body heat, but Norman Osborn would steal it, fix it, and masquerade as the Stealth Spider.

Electro-Proof suit

A makeshift suit Peter made from Horizon High science projects to combat Electro.

Synthetic-Symbiote (formerly)

Also called his Venomized form in merchandise, the synthetic-symbiote is a non-living symbiote that was originally intended to help a friend of Max Modell's who saved his life and ended up badly injured in the process. Spider-Man used the synthetic-symbiote to defeat the tech eating machine Technovore. Later on, while fighting a Venom possessed Doctor Connors, Venom got a taste of the synthetic-symbiote, literally, and absorbed it back into his bio-mass.

      Origins (208)
    • Before Peter found an outfit that worked for his proto-suit, one of the initial designs was a costume that referenced Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider costume.
  • This version of Spider-Man made guest appearances in the third season of Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as the fifth season of Avengers Assemble.
  • The spider-symbol on Peter's black suit is similar to the new one featured in the Red Goblin storyline from the Marvel Comics. In Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, the black suit's spider-symbol is the original and more-frequently used classic comic design.
  • Peter was bitten by the Genetically-Enhanced spider while in Oscorp, much like his Ultimate Comics, Marc Webb film series, and Ultimate Spider-Man TV series counterparts. However, unlike those versions, the spider wasn't created by Oscorp or Norman Osborn, but was instead created by the Jackal.

  • It's possible that the Avengers, specifically Iron Man, view Peter as an experienced hero. In Amazing Friends, when Peter loathes about the Avengers Internship program Not Tony, Iron Heart's A.I. program based on Tony Stark, told Spider-Man that he didn't need the internship because he was already a hero.
  • Kevin Burke and Chris Doc Wyatt confirmed in an interview that Peter does have a crush on Mary Jane.[3]
    • They also confirmed that Mary Jane will challenge Peter in ways his friends from Horizon do not.[4]

  • Peter's Iconic Spider-Man suit in the Marvel's Avengers video game by Crystal Dynamics slightly resembles his suit from this series.
    Avengers Spider-Man Iconic Suit Comparison

Spider-Man's Iconic Suit from the Avengers Video Game and the suit from the 2017 cartoon side-by-side comparison.

    • Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel's friendship in the Avengers game is also similar to their friendship in this series.
