Groot is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy who made his first appearance in Marvel's Spider-Man: Maximum Venom. Before Amazing Friends, the two had previously met in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout episodes Back in the New York Groove and Drive My Carnage.

Groot is a tree-like humanoid with brown eyes and moss running across his head like hair.
Personality
Due to being in his toddler form, Groot has the personality and mannerism of a child. Even though he can still understand the directions of others, he can get distracted easily by objects such as ice cream and red buttons.
In Back in the New York Groove and Drive My Carnage, while Groot did behave childishly he had a bit more maturity as seen when he laughed at Spider-Man being oblivious to Rocket Raccoon stealing one of Spider-Man's web-shooters.

Relationships
Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Despite the mix-up when they first met, Groot and the other Guardians were able to work alongside Spider-Man to defeat Thanos who was using the Carnage symbiote to make himself stronger. By using the Groot's sap on the V-252's symbiote tendrils the Guardians and Spider-Man were able to harden the symbiote and immobilize Thanos. During this time Spider-Man gave Groot the nickname sapling.
In Amazing Friends, Groot was happy to Spider-Man again and wanted to give him Star-Lord's message, despite getting distracted along the way. After he was saved from A.I.M and Baron Mordo, Spider-Man gave him the ice cream he wanted so badly, giving the Web-Warrior a hug for the treat.

Abilities
Limb extension
Groot has the ability to extend his limbs for multiple purposes. Similar to Ms. Marvel, Groot can also use his limb extension abilities to enlarge his fists.
Vines
Groot can extend his fingers into vines and even in his toddler form he can use them to pick up anyone who is bigger than him, hinting that he may possess some form of super strength or peak-human strength. He's also been shown capable of growing vines from the ground after digging his fingers into the soil, but so far this has only been seen in his Venom Files video.

- This version of Groot is the same one who appears in the Guardians of the Galaxy TV series.
- Out of their fellow Guardians, Groot and Gamora have bonded with the most symbiotes.
- Because of his species being weak to sounds, the first time a feral symbiote was removed from Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy he died until Rocket Raccoon recovered his missing arm.[1]
- Groot has been the only Guardian seen on promotional material for Maximum Venom and the only one to have a Venomized form.
- Unlike in Guardians of the Galaxy, toddler Groot will be voiced by Conner Andrade, son of Dino Andrade, instead of Kevin Michael Richardson.[2]
- Conner Andrade's father, Dino Andrade, is known for voicing Scarecrow in the Batman Arkham series of video games.
- Groot's design in Marvel's Spider-Man is different from his design in Guardians of the Galaxy because of Guardians using the same art style from season 3-4 of Avengers Assemble.
- Groot lacks the detail in his wood from Guardians of the Galaxy, he appears to have moss for hair, and his color scheme is brighter due to the art style of Marvel's Spider-Man.
- In Vengeance of Venom, Groot will become the host of the ANTIVENOM symbiote after Spider-Man and Max Modell create it.[3]
- The episode Hitchin' A Ride from the Guardians of The Galaxy animated series is referenced in Vengeance of Venom when Groot releases the ANTIVENOM spores throughout New York City.
